No blindness, or even nearsightedness in this case, but while I provide an up-to-date newspaper article of perfect relevance, I fail to see any evidence of "historical hot-beddedness" a wonderfully appropriate choice of terminology, were it true. I do not by any means deny that it exists, or affirm that I think it does not, just that it is not evident at all there are no "street walkers" or red-light district where one can go "to get lucky" in the historical center.
And I am guessing but only guessing, since I do not have any personal knowledge in this case that the Mestre Ambasciatori has just as many hookers as any of the best hotels in the historical center, since it is more of a business hotel than many of the hotels in the historic center.
I apologize, I was referring to a difference from any other area taken in the same historical and cultural context. I personally still fail to see evidence from the text cited that the City of Venice was any more hot-bedded in or the 17th century or the early s than Florence or Rome or Naples or Paris or any other city, and truly fail to see what that has to do with noting an article on current events in Mestre from today's newspaper, and its impact on visitors' choices today.
Unless the TA travellers also have a time machine, the sexual mores of the past centuries provide not much more than a colorful backdrop against which to imagine the adventures of Giacomo Casanova while enjoying a moonlit stroll amongst the calli and campi listening to the waves lap against the buildings and fondamenta.
